The only way to fit in is to pretend to be something that you're not, right?
If you want friends, you act like the popular kids.
If you want a particular job, you act like someone in that line of work.
You change your clothes, your hair, even the way you talk.
But, how long do you have to pretend? Do you ever get to let your hair down?
Pretending to be something that you're not can lead to anxiety, depression and fear.
Fear that they'll find out you're just pretending.
That doesn't sound like fun.
So, the popular kids might not like you if they find out that you like to the play the glockenspiel But you love your glockenspiel. Do you really want to give that up?
It's far better to be yourself and be interesting than to be generic and filled with anxiety.
True friends will like you just the way you are and will be more fun to hang out with than the popular kids with whom you have nothing in common.
Don't fit in, find a place to belong.
