Summer berries

Nothing says summer like sun and berries. Today is finally sunny and there are berries in my house!

My son and his girlfriend a currently baking gooseberry muffins in my oven. She picked the gooseberries from a bush in her backyard. They kind of look like little red grapes.

The blueberry picture is from a bush in my backyard. Usually I don't get that many blueberries because other critters get them before I pick them.

So, my family goes blueberry picking at a local farm in August where they are tons of berries and buzzing creatures. We are always able to pick enough berries for crisps and muffins.

I love berry crisp and even have a gluten-free recipe.

We also have invasive blackberry vines. Blackberries are also good berries especially when they are on the side of the road and not in my yard.

Well, I'm going to go eat a muffin.
