Sometimes, stressful situations are crippling and choke the joy in your life, like weeds. Even if you've dealt with your emotions, the problem still exists.

Things are not OK.

Let's go with the example of not getting into your top-choice college. You are hurt and angry and have acknowledged these emotions, but you still can't go to the college that you really wanted to attend and now you're stressed.

Now what?

First, realize that your problem is not going away. Your college will not magically change its mind. You need to find a way to cope with that fact.
