Death on electric wheels

I love my car. It's a muscle car with a gasoline engine. It does get more miles per gallon than my last vehicle, so I'm not totally destroying the environment.

I do like the idea of saving the earth by driving an electric car.

But, I have a problem with an electric engine. Mainly, the lack of engine noise.

I have a Dodge Charger that growls when I accelerate. It warns people that I'm driving in their vicinity.

An electric car doesn't have that warning sound.

I have this fear that I will hit a pedestrian.

Of course, it doesn't help that the people in my area don't look before crossing the street. Or that the stoplights have a blinking yellow arrow when the pedestrians have a "walk" sign.

If I don't see them and they don't hear or see me, chances are that my fear will come true.

So for now, I'll enjoy my engine noise and consider an electric car when they're not so quiet.
